You may or may not know that I home school my three children. I absolutely love everything about home schooling! Seriously, I am not crazy. I actually very much enjoy spending every day with my kids. I love watching them learn and grow. I love their excitement when they grasp a concept that we have been working on! Don’t get me wrong, we have our days that I just want to quit and I may have to put myself in time-out so that I don’t lose my patience, but overall I absolutely love, love, LOVE it! They love it also, which helps. 🙂 One of my absolute favorite things about home schooling is the flexibility. We can work at their pace; slow down when they need help and expand their areas of interest. We can take a day off in the middle of the week, when my husband is home and it is nearly 70 degrees in November in Iowa. So the other day we did. We decided to go out to explore on a gorgeous fall day. Now, before some of you gasp at the fact that we took an unscheduled break from our lessons, keep in mind that their learning doesn’t take the day off even if “school” does. We still work on geography, spelling, science and more…while we are outside in nature enjoying some recreation and fresh air. As a family, this is our favorite activity together. No, not school…enjoying nature. This is where we create most of our favorite memories.
